Mission
FOMM is a nonprofit volunteer organization dedicated to supporting the students and faculty of the Marshall Magnet.
Our mission recognizes that the Marshall Magnet strives to provide students with an exemplary college-prep curriculum and rich high school experience.
Organization
FOMM will have an elected Executive Board, which will have the responsibility of providing a structure for fundraising, funds distribution, record keeping and reporting, donor recognition and acknowledgement, transparency and continuity of operations, and communications with parents, faculty, administration and students.
The Executive Board will develop a regular meeting schedule with all interested parents and faculty.
The organization will develop strategies for raising funds and a protocol for soliciting and responding to funding requests from faculty and students.
All funds raised are dedicated exclusively to support the Marshall Magnet in Los Angeles, California.
Activities are funded from moneys deposited in the Magnet account at the Student Store. Some funds are carried over from year to year.
Planned Activities
Communication
Communication activities may include:
- Develop and maintain a website where school news and Magnet news can be communicated on a regular basis
- Work with the Administration to get and maintain a list of campus clubs, with contact information and meeting times/dates/locations
- Work with teachers to use their LAUSD websites to post syllabi and homework assignments

Fundraising
Fundraising activities may include:
- An annual pledge drive to solicit contributions from families of students and friends of the school
- Sale of donated and/or purchased items in association with school activities
- Fundraising events such as on-line or silent auctions
- Application for foundation and corporate grants
- Development of community/business partnerships
Use of Funds Raised
Funds contributed or earned will be donated to support the Marshall Magnet in various ways, including:
- To purchase enrichment materials that the faculty feel will benefit the students, but whose cost exceeds available school funds
- To provide increased access for students to participate in educational enrichment opportunities, such as funding for transportation to educational events
- To allow faculty and students to respond to opportunities such as field trips or guest speakers
- To enhance student recruitment and retention or publication and celebration of student achievements
- To provide opportunities for students and parents to communicate such as through the Magnet website, a newsletter, or shared events
